East China's Shandong province held a high-level dialogue with Bavaria, Germany on Sept 2 via online channels.
Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, Li Ganjie, Shandong provincial governor, and Markus Soeder, premier of Bavaria, attended the meeting.
Wang said in his speech that China and Germany have established an all-dimensional, multi-tiered and wide-ranging economic and trade cooperation. The two sides share broad common interests, common opportunities and common responsibilities as major countries.
Wang expressed hope that China and Germany will work together to further strengthen cooperation, demonstrate the strength of unity and lay a solid foundation for China-Europe and China-Germany friendship and cooperation.
Wang added that Bavaria is a pioneer in China-Germany cooperation. He hopes that the two sides will look to the future, firmly promote mutually beneficial cooperation, understanding and mutual trust, and work together to write a new chapter in friendly relations.
According to Li, Bavaria is an important cooperative partner of Shandong in Europe and the first sister state of Shandong in Germany. The two sides have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, science and technology, environmental protection, agriculture, education and culture.
The Shandong governor expressed hope that the two sides will further strengthen cooperation in key industries such as high-end equipment, high-end chemicals, medical care and health care, and modern finance, develop new forms of business such as cross-border e-commerce and market procurement trade, upgrade the development of the Sino-German Ecopark in Qingdao and the Sino-German (Jinan) Cooperation Zone for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, promote green and low-carbon development, and expand communication and exchanges between universities, think tanks and research institutes to take mutual cooperation to a new level.
Soeder reviewed the history of exchanges and cooperation between Bavaria and Shandong, and spoke highly of the achievements of cooperation between the two sides. He hopes to further strengthen exchanges between governments and the business communities, deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, new energy, aviation and smart cities, and lift bilateral cooperation to a new level.
