Randall MacEwen
CEO & President, Ballard Power System
Randall MacEwen has served as CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of Ballard Power Systems since October, 2014. He has held executive roles in clean energy companies dealing with hydrogen, fuel cells and solar for 20. In his earlier career, he was a lawyer specializing in M&A and corporate finance. Mr. MacEwen represents Ballard as a supporting member of the Hydrogen Council. Mr. MacEwen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Law degree.
Ballard Power Systems is a global leader in zero-emission fuel cell's design, R&D and production. Headquartered in Bennaby, British Columbia, Canada, Ballard Power Systems has more than 900 employees and more than 1,300 patents and patent applications. At present, Ballard Technology has provided power for more than 3,560 fuel cell heavy vehicles around the world, with a total mileage of over 92 million kilometers and a fuel cell stack running time of over 35,000 hours. On November 13, 2018, Weichai subscribed for 19.9% of Ballard's shares, making it Ballard's largest shareholder. Established on November 26, 2018, Weichai-Ballard Hy-Energy Technologies Co., Ltd. is a sino-foreign equity joint venture owned 51% / 49% respectively by Weichai Power and Ballard, with a registered capital of 1.1 billion yuan. Weichai and Ballard have cooperated in basic research, technology development, industrial chain construction, etc., and dedicated to various application scenarios such as fuel cell buses, commercial trucks and forklifts, making technological breakthroughs and application demonstrations in zero-emission hydrogen energy transportation.
