Nomura Research Institute (NRI) is the most well-known think tank in Japan. Founded in 1965,its business covers four major sectors: consulting, IT solutions in the financial sector, IT solutions in the industrial sector, and IT solutions in the infrastructure sector. With more than 10,000 employees,its sales revenue reached 528.8 billion yen (approximately 5 billion U.S. dollars) in 2019. Currently, NRI has established independent business companies in Shanghai, Beijing, Dalian, Hong Kong and Taipei, and Nomura Research Institute (Shanghai) is its business headquarter in China. In April 2007,the China Research Center of Nomura Research Institute was jointly established by NRI and Tsinghua University to conduct research on China’s industry, economy and society, and put forward policy suggestions and industrial policy analysis.
