Hyundai Motor Group China, located in the Yantai Economic and Technological Development Area, was founded on Feb 27, 2013.
The company is wholly-invested and operated by Hyundai Motor Group, and is Hyundai Motor’s largest overseas research and development center.
The company has received $290 million in investment and covers an area of 2,760 mu (1.84 square kilometers). It is a new energy vehicle research and development center that features new technology, develops and applies new materials, and tests new products.
The R&D center currently has 800 R&D technical personnel and has developed up to 15 vehicle models, four of which are developed completely independently and one of which is listed.
Hyundai Motor currently has six independent research and development centers located in South Korea, Germany, the United States, India, Japan, and Yantai, respectively.
Hyundai Motor Group China is the only center focusing on the R&D of new energy vehicles, in addition to its headquarters in South Korea. It is also the only independent R&D center established by Hyundai Motor Group in China.
