Chey Tae-won

Executive Vice Chairman of the South Korean SK Group

Born in 1963, Chey Tae-won is a Bachelor of Physics from Brown University, a master of Materials Engineering from Stanford University, and a master of Business Administration from Harvard University. He joined SK Group in 1996 and served as the Chief Vice Chairman of SK Group since 2011, being responsible for the liquefied natural gas and other chemical business of the Group. 

SK Group was founded in 1953 with three main businesses of Energy & Chemical, Telecommunication & Semiconductor and marketing services. The turnover of SK Group in 2019 was $86.16 billion and the Group ranked 97th in the Fortune Global 500 in 2020. SK Group is the largest comprehensive energy and chemical enterprise in South Korea, with a market share of 38% in this field, ranking first in South Korea. SK Telecom is the largest mobile operator in South Korea, with a market share over 50%. SK Hynix is the third largest DRAMmanufacturer in the world and rank ninth among global semiconductor company.
