Project of Large-scale Ocean Engineering Base of Penglai

II  Introduction to the project unit

Penglai city is located at the north end of Jiaodong Peninsula and borders on the Bohai sea and the Huanghai sea with an gross area of 1128.5 square kilometers. It has 7 towns, 5 sub-districts, 1 provincial-level economic development zone and 1 provincial-level tourist resort, and its total population is 450,000. Shipbuilding and ocean engineering industry is one of the four pillar industries of Penglai.

III  Project content and scale of the construction

This project covers an area of one million square meters and plans to utilize 1000 meters of coastline in Beigou Town of Penglai to build a large-scale ocean engineering base for construction of large-scale ocean engineering and various types of corollary equipment and facilities. It will take the advantage of existing port shoreline resources and energetically introduce large-scale equipment for utilization of ocean space, bridge engineering equipment for sea-crossing, complete sets of major equipment and critical equipment for development of high-tech industries. 

IV  Construction conditions of the project

Water depth conditions at this area are good. The water depth can reach to 5 meters at about 340 meters north of the western part of this area, and the water depth can reach to 10 meters at about 280 meters north of easternmost part. The geological conditions are also good with high bearing capacity. The construction hinterland is vast with a planned back land area of more than 3000 mu. There is no large architectural barrier, and thus expenses such as removal expense and compensation can be reduced. The earlier-stage procedures have been handled and sea reclamation has been finished, and therefore the project construction period can be shortened. At present, Bohai Sea-Crossing Passage is under argumentation of the State Council. Construction of the sea-crossing passage will bring great opportunity for development of this project.

VI  Market and economic benefit analysis and forecast

After reaching the design capacity of this project, the steel product processing capacity can reach to 0.3 million tons, the sales income can reach to 5 billion CNY, and the profit and tax can reach to 1.2 billion CNY.
